Missions have long been at the heart of First Baptist Church. Mission education is vital to reaching a lost world. Many mission pioneers before us blazed the trail so we can teach this generation about reaching the lost. The Women’s Missionary Union provides training, leadership, and encouragement as it leads our congregation in mission education.
One of the most important ministries of First Baptist has been to help organize Baptist missions and churches in areas such as Union Parish, New Orleans, Houma, Seattle, Rochester, New York, and Logan, Utah.
First Baptist provides an opportunity for members to participate in monthly mission action projects. Some of these projects include Life Choices Pregnancy Center in Monroe, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, St. Gabriel Women’s Prison Ministry, Union Parish Detention Center Ministry, and providing school supplies for needy children and Christmas plates and gifts for homebound and nursing care facilities. We also unite with other churches in the area to provide monthly birthday parties for the residents of the nursing care facilities.
As a member of Concord Union Baptist Association, we provide volunteers and financial support for the mission ministries supported by the association.
Each year we encourage participation in mission trips planned and supported by First Baptist Church; this also includes a youth-led mission trip. At the bottom of this page is a slide show of pictures from recent youth-led mission trips to Houma, LA, and Seattle, WA.
